The Health Technician/EMT responds to accidents and other emergencies involving injury and illnesses, sometimes encountering situations which may be life threatening. Upon arrival at the scene, the EMT makes an independent preliminary assessment of the patient's condition and selects from a variety of prescribed protocols using the one that is considered appropriate under the given circumstances. The Health Technician/EMT proceeds to provide the treatment as prescribed in the protocol. He/She will make modifications to the protocol, if necessary within prescribed limits; conduct complete examination of the patient's condition to determine the nature, extent, and seriousness and searches for medical alert symbols; determines, with due regard to the patient's condition, if and how the patient can be moved and to which medical facility the patient should be transported. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Responds to medical emergencies on and off the Medical Center grounds; Provides medical treatment and transport to the medical unit; Conducts both scheduled and unscheduled emergency and non-emergency transports; Conducts patient assessments, assesses severity of illness/injury and identifies life threatening problems; Determines/prioritizes appropriate medical treatment/procedures and need for additional assistance; Performs patient triage, takes and records patient's vital signs as needed; Assists in lifting and carrying patients into or out of transport vehicles and into treatment facility; and Utilizes various tools and equipment to transport patients, such as backboards. The work requires, on a regular and recurring basis, considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing of multiple flights of stairs, running, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds. The incumbent must maintain emotional control when conducting operations or basic lifesaving procedures. The incumbent must exercise patience and understanding when confronted by emotionally disturbed or physically challenged personnel, or injured patients. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-7 grade level:
One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes:
Providing and gathering information on the human body structure, function, illnesses and diseases; providing emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients; providing basic life support to assess patients' conditions to administer treatment; and understanding the legal considerations of emergency care, e.g., actual/implied consent, Good Samaritan laws. OR One full year of graduate education or an internship in an area that is directly related to the work of the position. OR A combination of specialized experience and graduate education. Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-7 level. To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-7. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e. 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position. A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
