Physician-Geriatrics:
The NJ Lyons VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time Geriatrics Physician. The physician will be required to cover our Long Term Care neighborhood within our Community Living Center, which also has Respite unit. Oversee PGY 3 residents education. Oversee the education of a Geriatric Fellow. Cover other units of the Community Living Center. Screen, admit and discharge patients as required. Admit, do episodic care, pronounce veteran if he/she passes, complete death certificate. Provide medical diagnoses, workups and treatments within the scope of knowledge, privileges and patient needs. Transfer patients to other bed services as necessary, i.e., medicine, psychiatry, neurology and to other VA medical centers and private facilities as appropriate. Make provisions for, and coordinate care of dying patients and their surrogates including, but not limited to, advance directive, management of pain, psychosocial counseling, spiritual counseling, bereavement counseling, and management of physical problems, giving patients comfort and quality of life the utmost attention. Provider must complete Life Sustaining Treatment Training. Provider must complete Goals of Care Conversation Training. Provide MOD and Medical on Call (MOC) coverage . Prescribe medications as needed. Admit within the scope of Extended Care Service. Diagnose within the scope of ECS. Treat, including prescribing/administering medications, within the scope of the ECS and coexisting conditions. Advanced Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation to include endotracheal intubation and cardiac monitoring/interpretation of EKGs. BLS and ACLS certification. Sit on hospital committees as assigned. Engage in Hospital Improvement Projects as needed. Cover for CLC screening if needed. Educate staff on geriatric topics/veteran care as needed. Great communication skills to deal with other services caring for Veterans in the CLC> Work Schedule:

United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
