Housekeeping Aid Supervisor

The incumbent is responsible for assisting the Hospital Housekeeping Officer in planning, directing, and managing a total program designed to provide a sanitary environment appropriate to a medical, nursing home care, and domiciliary treatment setting. This program consists of housekeeping activities through formulation and issuance of station policies covering all areas of environmental sanitation; integration of Medical Center housekeeping with other patient care activities; establishment of standards for sanitation quality; work quantity; frequency of operations, and individual work performances; determination of the most appropriate actions to take in housekeeping activities to effect controls over possible cross infection or spread of disease within the Medical Center environment. Duties include but are not limited to:
Develops and directs formal on-the-job training programs for subordinates and operating personnel in methods and procedures, aseptic techniques and sanitation, security and safety. Provides and directs training for new staff which often includes special requirements such as VRA training requirements Time, attendance and leave approvals, OWCP forms, work assignments and placements, area on the-job training and instruction, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions and meetings with union stewards, writing work schedules, develops performance standards of subordinates, etc. Determines and obtains equipment and materials to accomplish scheduled and non-scheduled work assignments and projects. Determines, formulates, executes, and evaluates the manpower needs of the area assigned within established manpower ceiling limitations. Required to conduct daily and weekly team meetings, which focus on coaching, team development, and scheduling. Attends staff meetings and serves on various station committees for and in the absence of the Hospital Housekeeping Officer. Performs all other duties as assigned Work Schedule:

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
The physical demands of the position are those normally required of a housekeeping aid such as some heavy lifting (equipment and materials), and movement of furniture, often requiring stamina to perform physical labor. Continuous walking, standing, stooping, bending, and lifting are required. Arduous physical effort is also required in the performance of manual tasks such as washing walls above five feet and operating powered equipment, over extended periods of time when providing training to employees etc. Incumbent works in well ventilated areas and may be subject to occasional noise, skin irritations, cuts, and bruises. The work performed requires continuous walking when making inspections in the various buildings. When occasionally performing cleaning tasks, moderate effort is expended.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
