As the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor, the incumbent directs the efforts of all assigned subordinate staff, performing multiple crafts in the accomplishment of facility level new construction, improvements and renovation work, equipment maintenance, repair, installation, and other applicable duties as assigned. Exampled of duties include but are not limited to:
Responsible for the building maintenance shop at the Lyons Campus Supervises the operations of units within Maintenance department Provides general assignments to the senior journeyman Reviews work of journeyman staff for completeness and adherence to deadlines Provides information to the General Foreman, Assistant Chief Engineer, Chief Engineer and other areas of medical center regarding maintenance activities Prepares workload data such as PM data for Maintenance Unit to ensure compliance with Joint Commission requirements Prepares cost estimates for in house renovation work Establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences Coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors Redirects workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work Informs higher level supervisors of the need to revise work schedules Participates in initial planning of current and future work schedules Plans and establish overall leave schedule Instructs subordinates on new procedures Determine training needs of subordinates Initiates recommendations for promotion/reassignment of subordinates Work Schedule:

Experience:

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
The incumbent may be required to make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard to reach places. The incumbent may be required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, walk, reach, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The incumbent frequently lifts and carries tools, equipment, and parts weight up to 20lbs and less often to 90lbs. The incumbent is subject to cuts, bruises, falls and other dangerous conditions. The incumbent must meet the physical requirements in order to perform the duties assigned to the position. Must be able ti discern colors, contrasts, and depth. Must have the ability to work under stressful conditions, changing goals, and demands. The incumbent works both, inside building of various types and outdoors, and subject to varying work conditions, which may include tight and confined spaces and heights 10 feet or greater. The incumbent may be required to work in all types of hazardous weather conditions. May be required to work in environments with dust, dirt, odors, fumes, loud noise, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Work environment is primarily within a medical center where the potential for exposure to various types of diseases and infections exists and appropriate PPE equipment is required as appropriate. The incumbent ma be required to drive a motor vehicle in connection with the performance of their duties.
